Kris Bradley who has been accused of attempted murder after 21-year-old Matthew Probert was left with a hammer embedded in his skull.
He was further remanded in custody when he appeared before Lincoln Crown Court this morning (Wed).
Kris Bradley,22, of Kent Street, Lincoln, spoke only to confirm his name during a short hearing and there was no application for bail.
Judge Michael Heath adjourned the hearing to a date later this year when Bradley will be asked to enter a plea to the charge he faces.
The case follows an incident shortly before 1 am on Sunday morning in Hungate in Lincoln city centre when Matthew Probert ,21, was left with a claw hammer embedded in his skull.
Mr Probert, who plays for Scunthorpe Rugby Club, was taken to Lincoln County Hospital and later transferred to a specialist unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield where he is said to be in a stable condition.
