Police have revealed that a baby escaped serious injury in a three-vehicle crash near Louth this afternoon.

The infant was in a black Audi A3 car involved in a collision with a silver Skoda and a silver truck.

It happened on the B1200 Manby Road at Stewton near Louth, which remains blocked as emergency services and recovery crews remain on the scene.

Police and two ambulances were called to the crash, near to the Manby Showground, which happened at around 12.50pm.

"A baby which was travelling in the Audi was taken to Grimsby Hospital for a check-up," a Lincolnshire Police spokesman said.

"But reports have confirmed that the child did not suffer any serious injuries.

"The drivers of both cars also went to hospital, but their injuries were also not considered to be serious."

Diversions have been put in place from the Legbourne Roundabout and the road is likely to remain closed until late afternoon.

Anyone who saw the crash can call the Lincolnshire Police collision witness hotline on 01522 558855 quoting incident number 175 of December 11.
