A PRIVATE collection of designer handbags, jewellery and luxury goods has fetched just £100,000 at auction in Lincolnshire.

The items were being sold off after the woman who owned them was declared bankrupt.

They included 60 handbags, evening bags, purses and wallets by designers ranging from Hermes and Lana Marks to Louis Vuitton, Judith Leiber and Chanel. The handbags originally cost up to £10,000 a time.

There were also 48 jewellery lots by names including Cartier and Tiffany & Co.

Market Rasen auctioneers Brown & Co said the most expensive item was bought for £5,000.
