Motorists are being warned to be aware of black ice after up to 2ins (5cm) of snow fell overnight in parts of Lincolnshire.

The blast of snow is expected to clear by the weekend, leaving cloud and drizzle, but freezing ground temperatures mean that road conditions are becoming treacherous as black ice forms.

Lincolnshire County Council's gritting team is continuing its efforts to keep the roads as clear and safe as possible.

Three schools in Grantham have been forced to close today due to the snow.

St Hugh's CofE, Spitalgate CofE and The Earl Of Dysart will all now re-open after the half-term break on Monday, February 20.
