A woman's body was found in the River Welland in Stamford by a member of the public on Saturday morning.
Police were called to the river, at Albert Bridge footbridge in Water Street, at 9.20am.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman told stamfordpeople: "A member of the public found the lady in the water.
"Officers attended and recovered the body of an 81-year-old local woman.
"The matter is now with the coroner."
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
