Hundreds of motorcycle fans will be flocking to Grantham later this month for The British Indoor Arena Flat Track Cup.

'The Great Indoors' event is making its debut at Arena UK Equestrian Centre on Thursday, 27th December.

The 32 strong field will be made up of the top 10 riders from the 2012 GNC Championship, the same number of star guest riders and 12 motorcyclists who qualify at a special event at Arena UK on Sunday, 16th December.

Peter Boast, from organiser Short Track UK who is one of the top 10 riders who will be competing, said: "We are very pleased to announce that indoor short-track racing will return this winter at the fantastic Arena UK Equestrian Centre.

"We held the first two events at Towerlands at Braintree, but when that closed we didn't run in 2011.

"We have been searching for an equally good venue and, in Arena UK, we have found what we were looking for.

"It is nearly a carbon copy of Towerlands, with room for up to 800 spectators in a 450 seat grandstand and additional standing area.

"It has a cafe, restaurant, VIP lounge, bar and even the same size area for the track, with the wax dirt surface that works so well with our flat track tyres.

"We are over moon to confirm that it will be running again this winter.

"The event is great family entertainment, with interviews and a chance to meet and get autographs from the riders.

"Being indoors there is a real sense of excitement."

Some of the guests who will be competing are IOM TT winner Steve Plater, Supermoto star Christian Iddon, Aussie Premier League speedway rider Kevin Doolan and grasstrack ace Paul Cooper.

A double meeting is planned at Arena UK on Saturday, 23rd February, with an England v Rest of the World team event at 1pm followed by the International Short Track Arena Championships (individual) at 6.30pm.
