A free Christmas lunch is available for those who might be spending the day on their own.

In its 37th year, the festive feast will be served from 11am at Gainsborough House Community Centre, in Parnell Street.

There will be carols, a visit from Father Christmas and lunch with all the trimmings.

Transport to and from the party can be provided for anyone living in Gainsborough, Lea or Morton.

Committee chairman Michael Wragg, said: "The lunch is provided free to anyone who would otherwise spend Christmas Day on their own.

"And it is all thanks to generous donations from churches, charities, business people and the public.

"If anyone would like to help make Christmas more cheerful for some 50 to 60 people who could be on their own, donations of any kind would be most welcome."

Call Gainsborough House Community Centre on 01427 811160 or Mr Wragg on 01427 616852.

The guest list is finalised on December 3.
