Gainsborough Trinity boss Steve Housham has contiued a busy week in the transfer market with the signing of Simon Russell.
The midfielder, who arrives at Trinity from Blue Square Bet Premier Division side Alfreton, is available for the FA Trophy competition and will be in the squad for tomorrow's home tie with Tamworth.
"Simon was with us during pre-season, but we had so many midfielders at the club then we could not offer him a deal at the time," said Housham.
"We have kept tabs on the player and we are delighted to finally bring him to the club. He is a very busy midfield player who likes to get on the ball. He has lots of energy which will suit us in the middle of the park and he is able to play for us in the FA Trophy."
The 27-year-old former Hull City man has signed on a deal which will keep him at the Northolme for the remainder of the season.
Russell joins fellow ex Lincoln City man Tyrone Thompson, who joined Trinity on a month-long deal earlier this week.
