A Gainsborough man has gone on trial accused of attempting to murder his former partner.
46-year-old Paul Henry is alleged to have stabbed Claire Boswell, 44, after breaking into her home in Glentham Road, Gainsborough.
A jury at Lincoln Crown Court was told today, Monday, October 8, that Henry armed himself with a knife taken from Miss Boswell's kitchen and then thrust it in to the right of her chest after she retreated into her daughter's upstairs bedroom.
The jury was told Miss Boswell suffered a potentially life threatening injury to her liver and sought help from a neighbour after Henry ran away from the property.
It is claimed Henry carried out the attack on September 15 last year just hours after appearing in court for harrasing Miss Boswell.
During interview Henry admitted picking up a knife but claimed he only wanted a conversation with Miss Boswell and the stabbing was an accident.
Henry, of Lea Place, Gainsborough, denies attempting to murder Claire Boswell and a second charge of wounding with intent.
The trial continues.
