Christmas shoppers in Lincoln will see the return of the giant advent calendar trail in December, this year.

The giant advent boxes will be placed in shop windows across the City Centre, St Mark's and in Uphill areas from December 1 to 24, filled with presents which shoppers have a chance to win.

Lincoln Business Improvement Group are behind the idea that is designed to add something extra to Lincoln shopping over the festive period.

People are asked to write down what they see in the advent box and post their entries inside the shop it is placed in.

Each day a winner will be drawn for a prize worth £50 and for example, the competition for box number 10 will open and close on December 10.

Lincoln BIG Events and Promotions Manager Michael Armstrong said: “Local businesses started throwing their weight behind this year’s competition within hours of approaching businesses to see if they were interested.

“We are delighted that they have acted so quickly and we are now just looking to place the final few boxes.”

All entrants of the daily competitions will be put into a final prize draw for more than £100 in cash and vouchers at the end of the advent trail.
