Lincoln Ladies boss Glen Harris has challenged his players to make some more history by winning the Continental Cup.

The Lady Imps secured top spot and a 100 per cent record in their group by defeating Liverpool 3-2 at Ashby Avenue on Saturday.

Harris's side will face Birmingham City Ladies at home in the semi-finals for the right to take on Arsenal Ladies or Bristol Academy in the final.

And having already beaten cup favourites and Super League champions Arsenal for the first time ever earlier in the competition, Harris is sensing silverware.

"I've been saying to the girls since the start of the season 'let's make some history'," said Harris.

"We've already beaten Arsenal and we're going to get a home tie in the semi-final. We're one step away from a showcase final at the end of the season and everyone will be looking at us as much as any other club.

"I really hope, for the girls' sake, that we make that final – and win it. We wouldn't just be going there to make the numbers up."

But before their cup semi-final against Birmingham, on the weekend of Sunday, September 2, the Lady Imps face a crucial spell of games in the Super League.

Following their shock 2-1 defeat to struggling Doncaster Rovers Belles, Lincoln have fallen eight points behind leaders Arsenal with nine games remaining.

Next up, the Lady Imps face Chelsea at Ashby Avenue on Sunday, June 24 (2pm).

"We've got that Doncaster game out of our system, although it still hurts," confessed Harris.

"We've got three big games before the break for the Olympics. We've got Chelsea, Bristol and Liverpool, all at home.

"We've got to get nine points. That's a must if we're going to be challenging for those top two spots."
