A Marc Newsham goal has given Boston United a half-time lead in their FA Trophy clash with 10-man Colwyn Bay at the Jakemans Stadium.

Newsham slotted home in the 27th minute after a fantastic burst forward by full-back Conor Marshall.

The Pilgrims could have been ahead before then when Kallum Smith headed home, but the goal was ruled out as the referee had already blown for a free-kick for the home side.

The Welsh side have had their moments too with Gareth Evans and Sean Williams both being denied by United keeper Dan Haystead.

However, their task was made tougher on the stroke of half-time when John McKenna was sent off for an apparent elbow on Mark Jones.
