Jack Harvey has taken a huge step towards his dream of racing in Formula 1 by bringing the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 title back to Lincolnshire.
After a superb performance at Donington Park this weekend, the Bassingham racing driver overhauled title rivals Jazeman Jaafar and Felix Seralles to take the championship for his team Carlin Racing.
The 19-year-old drove a superb final race from pole position to hold off Fortec Motorsport driver Alex Lynn and gain maximum points with a double victory over the final weekend of a 29-race season.
It was a drive which showed maturity and a mental toughness he will no doubt need if he is to ascend to the summit of motorsport.
The after-race party at Donington was getting into full swing when Harvey finally managed a word with waiting journalists.
"I am part of the best racing team and have the best people around me," he said. "To win the title feels amazing.
"It was a tough race, but there was no way Alex Lynn was coming past me. It was important to me that I won the championship by winning the final race of the season.
