After the success of last year's inaugural outdoor theatre events, the programme at Hodsock Priory in Blyth will welcome two classic children's stories this year.

King Arthur and The Sword in the Stone and Peter Rabbit from The Tales of Beatrix Potter will be brought to life in the gardens of the Priory.

In addition, the venue will also be hosting an afternoon of music welcoming Carl Taylor who will bring Pavarotti to the Priory.

"Last year's theatre events were a resounding success and we are delighted to be hosting such fantastic shows once again," says Lindsay Jones, events manager at Hodsock Priory.

"The gardens of the Priory came to life with families enjoying picnics whilst being entertained by talented professionals – they were memorable occasions."

The programme will start on Sunday, July 8, with The Sword in the Stone. Peter Rabbit from The Tales of Beatrix Potter will follow later in the summer on Sunday, September 2.

On Sunday, September 9, Carl Taylor will be joined by international soprano Deborah Norman, Junction 33 Dance Band, Mount St Mary's Jazz Band and BeVox for an afternoon of music.

"The events, which are suitable for all the family, offer a diverse appeal, attracting audiences of young and old alike," says Lindsay.

Gates open at 1pm for theatre events with performances commencing at 3pm. And, for budding actors or actresses, there will be a theatre workshop at 1.30pm for The Sword in the Stone. Pavarotti at the Priory starts at 3pm with gates opening at 12.30pm. Full bar and refreshments will be available throughout the concert.
