Jade overy (29) on the Manaslu Mountain Trail in Nepal, November 2012, (Manaslu Mountain being the 8th highest mountain in the world).
She ran 220km over seven days reaching altitudes of 5,100 meters, most of the race being run between 2,700 meters and 4,400 meters. On average there was 2-3000 meters of ascent and descent on each stage.
Competitors were semi-supported which meant they had to carry the majority of their equipment, food/water and clothing, but meals were provided in the evening in tea houses and monasteries.
Unfortunately Jade missed the last day of the trail due to altitude sickness. The up side to this disappointment, was that she was helicoptered back to Kathmandu, and avoided the twelve hour bus journey on lethal roads, that she endured at the beginning of the adventure.
Jade spent her school days here in Lincoln starting at Foss Way School and Sir Robert Pattinson Academy in North Hykeham and latterly at Cherry Willingham Community School. At present she is living in Brighton, but will shortly be leaving to travel in New Zealand and Australia.
