A betting shop is set to open in the former premises of a Lincoln High Street bank.

Ladbrokes will open in place of Santander at number 326 in a unit next to the level crossing.

Agents for the property Hodgson Elkington have also confirmed Morning Sun, an oriental food shop, has opened nearby at number 341a.

Matthew Johnson, a spokesman for Hodgson Elkington, said: "The 326 High Street property generated a lot of interest and it is pleasing we managed to secure another nationally recognised tenant for the property.

"The letting of 341a High Street to a new start business indicates that at both ends of the business cycle, be it established national companies or new start businesses, Lincoln provides opportunities for both.

"Additionally, with the proposed East-West Link Road gathering pace, it has and will provide further confidence in the lower High Street, with the additional pedestrianisation of the area, it will only enhance the location."

"Newsworthy, of course it is, and it's good to hear that Hodgson Elkington have confirmed the oriental food shop had opened up - I've gone past it a few times and seen it open but needed some other source to affirm what I'd seen." Id been past and was convinced it was at 341b......think of the embarrassment if i hadnt realised in time.

I wonder if you'll be able to bet on how long the barriers will stay down each time they come down?
