Lincoln Cathedral could be the first Cathedral in the UK to offer a virtual tour inside its building via Google Street View.

A series of photographs will be put together allowing people to look around features such as the nave via Google.

Working with local photographer, Darren Juggins, Lincoln Cathedral is aiming to get the service set up next week after Google Business Photos were recently made available to places of worship.

Darren Juggins said: "It is a great chance to open up something that is significant in Lincoln and Lincolnshire not only to the local community but to the world."

"The tours are designed to give the perspective of being in the building from that of the average person's height."

Weather permitting the photoshoot will take place at 7am on September 27, using special software to create a 360 degree tour, allowing people to move through the building on their computer or device.

Darren Juggins has been working with local businesses since April this year offering the technology and other places of interest such as Lincoln City Football Club already use the service.
