Lincoln City and Braintree Town scrapped out a 0-0 draw at half-time at Lincoln City in the Skrill Premier at Sincil Bank.
There was little to call between the two sides in a half which lacked creativity from both teams.
Lincoln’s three-man defence kept Braintree quiet in a scrapping opening.
Neither side had made many inroads into the game until Lincoln forced a couple of corners on the 15 minute mark.
The closest they came from making something of them came when one was cleared for a throw in. Tom Miller’s ball in came back to him, but he teed up Sean Newton whose cross was headed wide at the back post by Thierry Audel.
Lincoln went close again from a corner of 27 minutes. The delivery from Newton fell to Bright who headed it down only to see his effort blocked on the line and eventually scrambled away.
The Imps were operating on the counter-attack and it was from one break that they went close to opening the scoring again.
First a charge up the right saw the ball fed into Bright who saw his effort deflected out for a corner on 31 minutes. Newton’s resulting ball was cleared back to him and he tried a curling effort that nearly dipped into the top corner.
Apart from that, there was very little to write home about in the first half.
Lincoln City made three changes from the side that lost 2-1 at home to Welling United on Tuesday night.
Tom Miller returned to the side following his two-match suspension in place of Dan Gray.
The injured Conner Robinson was replaced by Jake Sheridan and Todd Jordan came in for Jon Nolan.
It brought about a change in formation for Lincoln who started with a three-man defence of Theirry Audel, Miller and Nat Brown. Sheridan was moved in a right wing-back with Sean Newton on the left-hand side of the five-man midfield which also included Alan Power, Charlee Adams and Jordan.
Up front Ben Tomlinson partnered Kris Bright.
