David Holdsworth has been weighing up his striking options as injuries threaten to de-rail his side's promising start to the season.

The Lincoln City boss has been forced to look for a plan B as some of his squad have not been able to train at all this week.

And with two tough Blue Square Bet Premier matches in three days over the Bank Holiday weekend, Macclesfield at home on Saturday and Gateshead away on Monday, Holdsworth admitted he will need to leave his options open.

"We have been working on numerous types of formations, but I can't look at that until we have trained today," he said.

"People have been wrapped up in cotton wool this week, certain players trained yesterday, certain players didn't, I really can't tell until after training who will be 100 per cent fit.

"It has not been a good week in terms of that (injuries), we will have to wait until Friday really to see who is going to be available.

"Losing Rob (Duffy) is a big blow, a huge blow for us. We want him back quickly.

"It has been a tough week, but the players have been giving everything they can.

Obviously Jamie (Taylor) is struggling, he has not trained all week, neither has Paul Farman.

Adam Smith is also huge doubt,  due to a hamstring he did in training, so it is tough."

With one of his first choice strikers (Rob Duffy) definitely out and the other (Jamie Taylor) doubtful, Holdsworth

has been looking at adding to his attacking options, with a number of players on trial at The 12th Imp Sincil Bank Stadium.

"It would be wrong to dismiss that, but right now there is no news on that," added Holdsworth.

"I am hopeful, but what we can't do is go out and throw money around, that is not practical.

"If we can get one or maybe two in we will do what we can, but at the minute there is a lot of work to be done."

Yes, a good acquisition I'd say. Let's hope he starts by banging a couple in. Win today and we'll have two points more than at the same stage last season.

Pleased to see we've added to the squad with a decent striker. Welcome aboard Colin.
