The University of Lincoln's Students' Union event called Get Brained has been cancelled following concerns over the appropiateness of its name.

The event which had been advertised earlier this week encouraged students to "expect the best atmosphere and drinks prices in town".

When the University of Lincoln's freshers' week guide tweeted about the event one user responded: "Not really the right phrase and encouragement for our young students is it?".

A spokesman from the students' union said that the event had been booked with an external promoter and that it had now been cancelled.
