The Morrisons store in Lincoln will close for one day as work takes place.

Shoppers will be unable to access the Tritton Road outlet tomorrow.

The shop will reopen on Thursday after its transformation into a "store of the future".

A new "fresh market" will offer more fruit and vegetables and there will be a florist and delicatessen.

Cured meats will be hung in a continental style in the market area, there will be 150 cuts of meat in the butchery and the shop will boast a large selection of cheeses.

Staff have also been equipped with knowledge on cooking, food combinations and wine matches.

William Roe, Morrisons store of the future director, said: "We are so excited to be opening a 'store of the future' in Lincoln.

"The new concept store has a fresh market feel with surprising produce and an exciting layout but still features the same great prices making it an affordable choice for both existing and new customers."

I guess it will have a nice feel to it but many can't afford some of the nice things that will be hanging there to tempt those who can afford them but that is business, can't ban everything some of us can't afford. Lead us not into temptation as we may be turned into shoplifters.

You're a miserable lot,I bet you'll all be rushing back to see what they've done to make it a nicer place to shop,to answer a few negative comments posted below : Roadscource, supermarkets are always moving things around and it wont take you long to get used to it. Hermione46,the echo runs stories on all these shop upgrades, its a local news story, however trivial it may be. Justgiveme,I doubt it will effect the prices,it will come out of the profits and supermarkets are stuck in a continuous price war which evens prices out ,if you don't like their prices don't shop there, simples.

Yet more messing about with the store. Leave it alone and spend the cash on lower prices for goodness sake.

Hermione46, in the very unlikely event that they did pay for it, what would be wrong with that? The Echo is a business which makes its money out of selling adverts. This happens to be a bit of information about a major supermarket, used by thousands of people in and around Lincoln, so there's a news angle to it. I don't understand the problem!

This is purely an advertisment for Morrisons. I wonder how much they paid the Echo to run this story?
