Lincoln-schooled John Hurt will star in Dr Who's 50th anniversary episode as the BBC announced the Zygons will make a return as villains.

The special episode will see the return of Billie Piper and David Tennant alongside Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman.

Hurt, who went to Lincoln Christ's Hospital school during the 1950s and famed for roles in Alien and the Elephant Man, will also co-star.

While his involvement has got fans talking, the return of the Zygons are also creating a huge buzz.

The shape-shifting creatures have featured in several other episodes but this will be the first time they have made a proper on-screen return.

Filming on the anniversary episode begins this week.
