Fifty jobs are on offer at a pub which will open in Gainsborough by Christmas.

Full and part-time positions are available at the Lincolnshire Otter.

The Marston's Inns and Taverns pub is opening off the A631 Thorndike way dual carriageway, at the entrance to the Somerby Park industrial estate.

And managers are now planning a recruitment day to advertise the new positions.

Marston's is confident that Gainsborough is the correct location for its latest public house and is partway through a three-year plan to build 60 food-themed pubs.

The pub and restaurant is in an out-of-town location, but with plans to double the size of the town's population to 35,000 in the next two decades, the chain is looking long-term.

Latest figures show unemployment in Gainsborough stands at 3.6 per cent, with just over 2,500 people claiming job seekers' allowance.

"Work continues to progress well," said Marston's Cheryl Evans. "The pub managers for the Lincolnshire Otter have now been recruited and activity is well under way to recruit all team members.

"We are now recruiting for positions including sales and service, chefs, kitchen assistants and porters, waiting-on and cleaning staff.

"There will be open day for recruitment on Thursday, September 27. All new team members will complete a comprehensive training programme to help ensure they are ready for the opening.

"Training will also include e-learning courses, which includes two nationally recognised qualifications.

"In addition, through the Marston's Inns and Taverns career path modern apprenticeships, NVQs are available – as well as development opportunities through our supervisory and chef programmes.

"We're only three months away from opening and this is an exciting time for the pub.

"We believe the Lincolnshire Otter will be a hub for the community that will not only offer great food and drink but also excellent value and fantastic customer service."

The pub will cater for 180 diners and offer a two-for-one menu every day.

Due for completion in late October, the pub is part of an ongoing new build scheme.
