Residents in a Lincolnshire village are complaining road resurfacing work has been done to a "poor" standard.

The main road through Hackthorn has been redone by Lincolnshire County Council contractors but a number of potholes remain.

Mike Finney, 60, from Hackthorn, said: "The standard of the road is just not good enough. It is poor. I cannot argue with how quick the job was done but of course now it is evident that the job has not been done properly.

"It is only a short term fix and it needs doing properly.

"There are potholes all over the place and it is dangerous and expensive for car users.

"I like to go for walks in the evening and, without street lights, you can't see where the potholes are and it becomes dangerous."

John Stonehouse, 67, from Hackthorn, said:

"In terms of speed they did a good job but the snag is that it is a really poor quality road.

"I would urge Lincolnshire County Council to get their contractors to do the job again. If they had filled the potholes in properly in the first place it would have saved money."

A spokesman for Lincolnshire County Council said: "All roads are inspected after any improvements take place to make sure our standards are met."

I was diverted on Saturday evening due to an accident on the way to Cherry Willingham. I hit a pot hole and bust 2 tyres and bent a wheel, I pulled into my brothers when i left at 11pm with his car there were 3 more cars at the end of the road changing wheels. Lets see if the council pay out on a claim. Thing was the holes had been marked if the council had been there why didnt they put some hardcore in as a temp fix.

"A spokesman for Lincolnshire County Council said: "All roads are inspected after any improvements take place to make sure our standards are met." there standards must be pretty low then, you only have to look at the contractors work on potholes to notice they cant be bothered with doing them right in first place thats why they need redoing almost a year after its done first time.
