Lincs Police's Roads Policing Unit have taken eight vehicles off the road in less than two days for various motoring offences.

They were seized by officers during four of the team's shifts.

During patrols throughout the county last night, one car was impounded due to the driver having no insurance or MOT and an illegal tyre.

While another vehicle was stopped by police at 2:15am this morning on Lincoln High Street when it was discovered its insurance cover had expired at midnight.

The RPU made a further interception on the A46 at Swinderby this morning when a driver was spotted averaging a speed of 100mph.

I've long thought it better that police simply confiscate and crush vehicles driven illegally rather than drag people through courts for a couple of penalty points. Seems we're halfway there.... It might alleviate some of the congestion problems too if they were diligent on crushing cars driven by people using mobile phones whilst driving.
