Lincolnshire Police closed the A18 near Keelby after a lorry carrying 500 sheep overturned.

The Scania lorry from near York was bound for Skegness abattoir.

The vehicle lost control on a bend and toppled over, killing a number of sheep instantly and leading to a number of sheep being put down due to their injuries.

The remaining sheep were herded into a nearby field before being collected by another vehicle following the collision at around 4.45pm on July 29.

A quantity of diesel leaked from the vehicle which meant the road had to be closed.

A diversion was set up through Keelby.

The 35-year-old driver from Spilsby escaped with a minor leg injury and was treated at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby.

Did the sheep that survived still have to go to the abattoir?
