A SHIFT worker from Louth has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder his girlfriend.

Kevin Roberts, 52, of Bramley Close, Louth, is alleged to have strangled Amanda Jones during the early hours of Sunday, September 2.

Miss Jones, also 52, was taken to hospital with a number of injuries after police were called to her home in Goodwood Close, Louth.

Roberts, who had been in a relationship with Miss Jones for around 18 months, spoke only to confirm his name at Lincoln Crown Court.

No pleas were entered during the hearing and Judge Michael Heath remanded Roberts into custody. He will next appear for a plea and case management hearing on November 23.
