Mark Wallington (born 1952): Professional Footballer

Born in Sleaford, goalkeeper Mark Wallington began his career at Walsall, turning professional in October 1971. He was transferred to Leicester City in 1972 making over 450 appearances. In 1985 he was transferred to Derby County helping them to successive promotions before finishing his playing career at Lincoln City.

He currently teaches PE at St George's College of Technology, Sleaford.

    I new Mark when he lived in Queniborough Leics. If he played at home we would have a couple of pints in the local bar. I always thought he would go into the hotel business when he retired from football. Obviously he did not. A great goalkeeper. Leicester city would be okay if they had one half as good. James
