LOUTH'S new Mayor wants to dress up as a sausage to welcome the Olympic torch when it comes to the town on June 27.

At the last meeting of Louth Town Council. the Mayor Jill Makinson-Sanders said dressing up will promote Louth as a sausage town, in recognition of the town's award winning butchers.

She said: "Melton Mowbray brings in thousands of pounds a year for being a food town.

"I am quite happy to dress up as a sausage and meet the Olympic torch but I am struggling to find an outfit if anybody can help me.

As a Louth resident I am proud of our prize winning sausages........ as for the Town Council, I was always taught that if I had nothing nice to say, best not to say anything!
