A new car park creating around 30 extra parking spaces in Lincoln city centre has opened this morning.
Flaxengate 2, in Danesgate, will provide overflow parking for the nearby Flaxengate Car Park.
Owned by Lincolnshire County Council, the site has been used as a private car park up until now.
The new car park will be run by City of Lincoln Council.
Rod Williamson, City Services Team Leader, said: “We are pleased to be working with the county council to be able to provide additional parking spaces in the city centre.
“We believe this is another positive step to help more people into Lincoln this Christmas, which is traditionally one of our busiest periods.
“This follows hot on the heels of reopening Lucy Tower multi-storey car park weeks ahead of schedule.”
The site is subject to the same tariffs and discounts as other council-run car parks, including the 25 per cent discounts for people using the PayByPhone service on Mondays.
It will be open until March 31, 2014.
