Aaron O'Connor's brace sent Newport to the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier League as they beat Lincoln 2-1 at Rodney Parade.
The Exiles had a 100 per cent record going into the game they and continued their good form seven minutes into the match when O'Connor ran onto Jefferson Louis' clipped through ball to give Justin Edinburgh's men an early lead.
The former Rushden and Diamonds striker found the back of the net with a low, driven effort 20 minutes later to double the hosts' advantage and give O'Connor his fifth goal of the season.
Andrew Boyce was inches away from halving the deficit when he headed Luke Daley's cross over the crossbar before Jamie Taylor brought the visitors back into the game after 51 minutes with a flicked header.
Taylor put a golden opportunity to level wide nine minutes later as Newport held out for victory.
