Lincoln's tour bus will return this year in March to tie in with the Discover Lincolnshire Weekend.

The open top bus that takes passengers around Lincoln's historic sites and top attractions is run between Lincoln BIG, Stagecoach and Visit Lincoln.

To relaunch the Tour Lincoln bus, tickets will be free during March 16 and 17, as long as they are bought in advance from the Visitor Information Centre in Castle Square.

People interested in being a part of the tour bus have a chance to get involved as the visitor information service is looking for five new tour guides.

VIC Manager Michele Sims said: “We originally had 10 tour guides, but we need to replace two who have left and to prepare our guides’ rota ready for what promises to be an even busier season.

"Training is available for this important job, which puts the guides at the forefront of ensuring people leave Lincoln with a fantastic impression of the city, having enjoyed an entertaining and informative commentary.”

Visit Lincoln Partnership Manager Emma Tatlow said: “We are looking forward to putting Tour Lincoln back on the road in March and we will be offering passengers a better service too, after reviewing the route and guides’ commentary.

“Tickets for the bus will be valid for 24 hours, giving people more flexibility to hop and off the service as they please and to make the most of their time in Lincoln.

Ticket prices for adults have been kept at 2012 prices, £10 for adults, but children under 16 now go free to encourage more families to use Tour Lincoln.

Tours will operate at weekends and Bank Holidays from March 16 until the end of October with a daily service in July and August.

Tours start from Lincoln Cathedral between 10am and 3pm.
