The Red Arrows are today remembering Flight Lieutenant Sean Cunningham, 35, who was killed after being ejected from his Hawk jet while on the ground at RAF Scampton on November 8 last year.

The RAF aerobatic team have issued this statement: "The Red Arrows are today remembering their friend and colleague Flt Lt Sean Cunningham who was tragically killed a year ago at RAF Scampton.

"Sean's childhood dream was to become a fast jet pilot and ultimately a Red Arrow, a dream realised in 2010 when he was selected to join the team.

"Sean, a former Tornado GR4 pilot had successfully completed his first year with the team as Red 3 and had began training in his new role as Red 5.

"He had taken on the mantle of 'Uncle Enid', mentoring the new first year pilots, a position that his fun loving, motivational manner and experience suited perfectly.

"Sean was an absolute gentleman who lived life to the full. He will be remembered by his many friends for his easy-going nature and his warm, infectious smile. The team wish to extend their thoughts to Sean's family at this difficult time."
