Ladies from a cheeky Lincoln sports team have bared almost all for a charity calendar – and it's now on sale.

The calendar has been done in a tongue-in-cheek nod to the film Calendar Girls by the Next Round team in the Lincoln Ladies Rounders League.

Their saucy pictorial sees the girls stripped off, with carefully posed props, shirts and camera angles to cover their modesty.

Each picture features a variety of activities from the game of rounders, such as batting, fielding and bowling.

They stripped off for the nearly-nude pictures to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Research after team captain Naomi Davison's mum was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

Miss Davison (24), a city council worker, said she has been a bit embarrassed about people seeing quite so much of her.

"Since the calendars came out there have been a lot of family and friends calling up with compliments, which is quite nice, but it was a bit nerve-wracking," said Miss Davison, from the uphill area of the city.

"But I decided to brave it and it really has been worth it. My mum is over the moon with the whole thing. She's having chemo at the moment and has been really positive."

The calendar went on sale on Saturday last week and so far the girls' talents on the pitch have attracted more that 550 buyers.

The calendars are available to buy online at www.lincsrounderscalender.webs.com .

Just a thought girls. If you want to raise even more money why not adopt your calendar outfit as your team playing kit for next season and charge gate money. I'd buy a season ticket. I could also mark all the fixtures on my wonderful new calendar.

Has anyone ever noticed how difficult it is to buy a good quality calendar featuring hot cross buns? Or pigeons. Maybe the girls could consider using them as props next year please?

@ Tardy - Why don't you just not buy one?

Methinks tardy would like to see naked men instead. The ladies should be complimented on doing this and as far as compliments go, I'd certainly like to give them one. Ooh matron! ;)

I will certainly be buying one and recommending it to friends down here. Yes it is something that has been done before but why fix something that isn't broke? Also in this example, they are girls you really do want to look at as opposed to the original calendar girls. Hope it sells well and kudos to the Echo for their support of the venture. I suspect Tardy's opinion would change should he/she be confronted with the girls in calander dress.

Tardy - why write such a negative comment? You've just made yourself look like an uncharitable ar*e (who, for the record, can't spell) - if you don't like the calendar, or don't support the cause, then just don't buy one....it's not rocket science! I think the girls were incredibly brave to do the calendar - it's selling so well not just because of the half-naked girls (though it helps!!) but because of what the money raised is going towards. Thousands of celebrities do girly calendars every year that sell by the lorry-load, yet none of their proceeds go to charity! If the idea is getting so tired - why do so many people still buy them?! Anyone with an ounce of intelligence will realise that SEX SELLS! Like Sam has said, I've bought one because cancer has touched my family. And because who knows what the future will bring.
