Sandie  Webster of Gainsborough won the regional heat of SkillBuild, the UK's largest multi-trade competition, which took place at Vision West Nottingham College on 23 April. One of 15 regional heats taking place around the UK, the highest scoring competitors will be given the opportunity to compete at the three day SkillBuild UK final later this year.

Awarded Student of the Year in 2012, Sandie is studying for her Level 3 Diploma in Painting and Decorating at Lincoln College, having previously attended Gainsborough College where she gained her level 1 and 2 qualifications. Commenting on her win, Sandie  said: "I'm really pleased to have done well at SkillBuild– it's a compliment just to have been nominated to compete, so to go on and win makes me feel great. It shows that I'm one of the best young trades-people in the area, which I think is definitely something I can be proud of.

Mick O'Flynn, Regional Delivery Manager for CITB in the East Midlands commented:  "the level of skill, determination and professionalism shown by the competitors has been outstanding, and everyone who took part should feel very proud of themselves. I wish all the participants every success for the future, and look forward to seeing many of them competing in the national final."
