Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (15)
Adapted from the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, supposedly based on secret diaries penned by the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Diaries is an action-packed horror directed by Kazakhstan-born film-maker Timur Bekmambetov.
As a boy, Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) learns that his grandfather was slain by a vampire and his beloved mother Nancy (Robin McLeavy) died as a result of a fanged fiend. He swears to kill as many creatures of the night and is mentored by Henry Sturges (Dominic Cooper), who teaches Abraham combat and hunting techniques.
During a trip to New Orleans, Abraham witnesses a slave auction and realises that people are being sold to vampires as food – a heinous practice which propels Abraham on his course as a fervent Abolitionist.
As his political career gathers momentum, Abraham must juggle his responsibilities and he relies on his assistant Joshua Speed (Jimmi Simpson) and trusty valet William Johnson (Anthony Mackie) to safeguard his crusade against the forces of darkness.
