Children will get the chance to visit Santa's Grotto as a Swedish Christmas Market will come to Lincoln this Decmeber.

Running at the same time as the Lincoln Christmas Market it is hoped the attraction will encourage visitors to downhill Lincoln and take in more of the city.

The St Mark's area will be turned into a mini Stockholm from December 6 to 9 with red and white stalls offering everything from Nordic food and drink to craft items.

In total 10 stalls will be brought to the city with an authentic Swedish Santa's Grotto set in the garden of St Mark's which will remain from December 6 until December 23.

Lincoln BIG is bringing the market to Lincoln by working with organiser Mathew Clarke of Portend Ltd.

Mr Clarke said: “This wonderful market will complement the city’s traditional World Famous Christmas Market, also taking place from December 6 to 9, and encourage people to wander downhill to explore the city centre and St Marks areas."

Lincoln BIG Events and Promotions Manager Michael Armstrong said: “Events are now an essential part of the mix for shoppers and visitors to Lincoln and the variety of markets which we offer continues to grow. We are sure that the Swedish Christmas Market will become another favourite for the city.”

The market will open from 9am until shops close and Santa's Grotto will be open from 10am until 6:30pm and 10:30am to 4pm on Sundays.
