A number of burglaries at commercial premises have taken place in North Hykeham and Brant Road, Lincoln, over the last few weeks.

During October and November there were 15 shop burglary offences reported to police, some of them targeting the same premises.

The main areas affected have been The Forum in Newark Road and Redwood Drive, off Brant Road.

Entry has been forced to premises, usually late at night, and items including cash, goods and foodstuffs have been stolen. A variety of shops have been burgled, including takeaways and a charity shop.

Jon Hammond, community beat sergeant for North Kesteven Rural, said: "We're increasing police patrols in the area and delivering crime prevention advice to shop owners.

"I would urge people to check their security measures to ensure that they do everything possible to prevent themselves from being targeted.

"Please do not keep valuables or cash on the premises overnight and ensure that locks, alarms and security lighting are all working."

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call Lincolnshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

How can patrols be increased with less officers? Is there plenty in North Hykeham rather than elsewhere?
