Toilet closure is more down to cost cutting

In Lincolnshire Echo, of August 7, Lincoln City Council is reported as wanting to close the toilets at St Peter at Arches because of misuse for sexual activity thereby saving the council £3,200 a year.

I note that public toilets elsewhere are having opening hours reduced so the proposed closure looks to me to be really about cutting costs. Little, if any, consideration seems to have been given to the inconvenience which is being caused to legitimate use.

As Lincoln City Council wants to encourage tourists I suggest that it should give wider consideration to the implication of toilet closures than how to cut costs.
