A 29-year-old woman has been found dead in a house in Sincil Bank, Lincoln.
Police were called to the address at 12.20pm today where they found her body.
Detectives say her death is being dealt with as unexplained and an investigation is underway.
Officers are currently on the scene.
Detective Inspector Suzanne Davies, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are currently dealing with an incident in Sincil Bank and are treating the death of a woman as unexplained at present.
“If anyone saw or heard anything in the area at the time we would like them to contact police with any information that may assist the inquiry.”
Local residents expressed their shock at the discovery in a terraced property near the Sincil Bank junction with Scorer Street.
Shop assistant Sam Wood, 21, was on duty at The Corner Store and Off Licence just across from the police corden this afternoon.
"An ambulance turned up at about noon and then a police van about an hour later," said Mr Wood.
Sports science student Amy Large, 19, who lives a few doors down Scorer Street, said: "The police have already been at our house asking questions.
"But I don't know the woman, I always thought it was a student house."
Her boyfriend Sean Gresham, 21, from Sleaford, said: "I suppose it's shocking that this has happened."
Priory Witham Academy sixth-former Kirsty Wakelen, 17, of Sincil Bank, described how the drama unfolded.
"It's scary. I only live down the street. First I saw the police forensic team come and then someone said they'd found a body."
