Lincoln Cathedral will feature in the first episode of BBC show, Supersized Earth, when it airs tonight.
Supersized Earth will be on BBC One at 8pm and the documentary features the Lincolnshire landmark as it was the tallest building in the world from 1300-1549.
In the documentary the team show what it would be like if the wooden and lead spire hadn't collapsed.
The television show looks at how humanity has changed the face of the earth.
Lincoln Cathedral features alongside the current tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and a feature looking at how 30-storey buildings are erected in under three weeks in China.
Talking about Lincoln Cathedral, the show's host, Dallas Campbell said: "I think it’s really funny when you think of Lincoln Cathedral, when you think of the world’s tallest, you think of America, the Far East and now the Middle East. But certainly not Britain.
"We’re good at bungalows but in the Middle Ages with reformation, suddenly cathedrals started popping up.
"The tallest buildings were then always associated with being closer to God, so churches were always the highest."
