Camper van owners from miles around will be descending on Lincoln this weekend for a family event in the city.
Hosted by Lincoln BIG, which has teamed-up with organisers Pete and Barbara Senneck and Skyway Promotions to bring back this event for the third year running, VW Camper Day will take place against the backdrop of the city's Brayford Pool on Sunday, March 30.
"We are expecting anything up to 150 vehicles this time around, at an event which typically attracts van owners who are prepared to drive many miles for the occasion," said Pete. "The fun will start at 10am and the event will continue until 4pm, with vehicles parked up along both Brayford Wharf North and Brayford Wharf East. We shall also be using the road leading from Brayford Wharf East into the University of Lincoln campus, so there will be plenty of space for everyone to walk around."
Camper vans achieved cult status in the 1960s and 70s, and are often restored and looked after by passionate owners for the enjoyment of equally sentimental enthusiasts.
Lincoln BIG events and promotions manager Michael Armstrong adds: "The VW Camper Day is always a hot attraction. As well as checking out a fabulous range of vans, families can enjoy listening to a live band, browsing VW stalls and applauding the winners of the show and shine trophies, which will be presented to the owners of the best turned-out vehicles."
