A VAN driver has admitted causing the death of a pensioner by dangerous driving.

Ross Murrell, 22, of Chestnut Drive, Hassocks, Brighton, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving following a collision on the B1190 at Thimbleby near Horncastle on August 3, last year.

Murrell's van collided head-on with a Suzuki Swift car driven by 70-year-old John Hextall.

Mr Hextall, who had recently moved to the village of Bucknall, was taken to Lincoln County Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

there is a lot of debate on the articles in the Echo about collisions and speed etc - however, for readers to be able to judge things properly it would be nice to have a bit more fact based reporting from the courts
