Police are warning residents in villages around Lincoln following a spate of burglaries.

Over the weekend of Saturday August 25 to Monday August 27, six houses were burgled.

Three burglaries were in Heighington and three in Branston.

All the offences are believed to have taken place during the late afternoon or evening and in all cases the offenders broke in through doors and windows at the back of the properties.

The offenders then rifled through belongings and mainly stole laptops and cash.

Detective Inspector Richard Myszczyszyn said: "We will have extra resources patrolling these villages to prevent further crimes but we need residents to play their part and work with us.

"If you see any suspicious activity in your village in the evening over the weekend then please call us straight away.

"Good descriptions of people and vehicles, along with registration numbers are really useful to us. Please do not think you are wasting our time. If something looks suspicious to you then call us.

"It is also a good idea to make your house look occupied while you are out in the evening too, perhaps by leaving the odd light or a radio on."

Report suspicious activity to Lincolnshire Police via the non emergency 101 number.
