A 17-YEAR-OLD politician is calling on students to stay away from tomorrow's protests in Parliament.
MPs will debate and vote on whether to abolish the Education Maintenance Allowance with a "lobby of Parliament" planned to voice opposition.
But Sleaford and North Hykeham Member of Youth Parliament, Joseph Hayat, said there were better ways for young people to air their views on the issue.
Joseph said previous demonstrations against tuition fees had not worked.
He said: "If anything they were counter-productive, as the hijacking of them gave a horrendous, unfair and unjust misrepresentation of the majority of young people in the UK.
"The British Youth Council (BYC) is presenting evidence to the Education Select Committee on January 26.
"The most effective thing young people can do is to complete the BYC's survey.
"Such actions are far more productive and give a far better representation of young people in today's society."
