Boston Borough Council has issued an urgent appeal for white goods to help Boston flood victims get back on their feet.

Donations of fridges, cookers and washing machines are said to be in demand.

They can be delivered to Boston Borough Council’s Fen Road depot at Frampton Fen, Boston, PE20 1RZ, from 8am to 2pm tomorrow (Saturday) and from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

It is asked that all donations are in a fit-for-purpose condition.

The council said that a large number of electrical items already donated had failed PAT (portable appliance testing).

Boston Borough Council said it cannot re-issue donated electrical items which are unsafe and for which repair is uneconomic.

Anyone having a kitchen refit is asked to consider donating their old appliances.

Suppliers of new appliances who, as part of their service, take away items being replaced are also asked to consider taking these to Fen Road, but only if they are in good and safe working condition.
