On-shore wind power is the cheapest renewable energy source in the UK, according to a new report.
Researchers say wind farm developments will also help reduce pressure on fuel bills.
Published earlier this month, the paper looked at the benefits and issues associated with the technology.
The report said: "Given the abundant wind resources available in the UK, and the technological maturity of onshore wind technology, onshore wind represents an economically attractive option for the transition towards a low-carbon future and would put less pressure on fuel bills."
It was published by the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics.
