Women in Lincoln are being urged to enter the 2013 Cancer Research UK Race for Life when entry opens on January 15.

The event will take place on June 9 at Lincolnshire Showground.

Last year, 2624 women took part in Race for Life in Lincoln and raised £120,000. This year, organisers want 2,700 women and girls to stride out to help raise £130,000 for vital research.

Alison Mackfall, Cancer Research UK's East Midlands events manager, said: "Together, we can hit cancer where it hurts.

"There are over 200 cancers and we won't give up until we find cures for them all. It's fighting talk, and we mean every word we say."

Women of all ages and abilities are welcome to enter the race, which costs £14.99 for adults and £10 for girls under 16.

Alison added: "Race for Life is non-competitive - it's not about being fit or fast.

"Most women are able to walk 5km in an hour while chatting and having fun.

"Or they can choose to jog, run or even dance around the course if they prefer."

To enter Lincoln Race for Life, go to www.raceforlife.org or call 0845 600 6050.
