Youngsters are planning to stage the world's biggest pillow fight at the Lincolnshire Showground this summer.
It would be part of the LinXs Festival Summer 2010 – the county's first festival for children and young people from babies up to 19-year-olds and organised by the youngsters themselves.
Giant inflatables, live music, colouring competitions and beauty treatments will all take place at the showground on Saturday, July 31, in addition to the gigantic pillow fight.
And the Every Child Matters in Lincolnshire organisation has provided a £4,000 budget in order to provide free entry to the one-day festival as long as the festival's steering committee can match fund the money by successfully applying for other community grants.
Last week the festival's steering committee met to put plans in place.
On the committee are teenage representatives from the UK Youth Parliament in Lincolnshire as well as youngsters from Action for Young Carers and the Lincolnshire Rural Youth Forum.
Chris Bridgwood, 16, representative for Lincolnshire on the UK Youth Parliament, said: "Music-wise, the Radio 1 DJ Andy George used to go to my school and I have some contact with him so will drop him a line.
"I've got some local bands agreeing to play.
"I've got a technical stage with light and sound for £500 but I still need to confirm that."
Fellow member of the Youth Parliament representing Lincolnshire, Sam Stanhope, 17, has been delegating the task of designing posters.
"I wanted something simple and bright," he said. "I want to use images like wind turbines to represent Lincolnshire."
