Following a superlative victory last time out, racing driver Jack Harvey plans to continue that kind of form at one of the most iconic race venues in the world.

The Formula 3 series heads to Brands Hatch for round five of the championship this weekend and the Lincolnshire driver can't wait to get started at one of his favourite UK venues.

Harvey (19) took fifth, third and first place finishes at Rockingham just under two weeks ago, which moved him up to second place in the driver standings, writes Dave Marshall.

But 13 points ahead of the Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver is series leader and Carlin Racing team mate Jazeman Jaafar.

"Jaz will go well at Brands, but then I expect everyone to be quite strong," Harvey said.

"He has been pretty consistent all season and will be quick again there.

"We were testing again this week at Rockingham and it seemed to go well for me, although it is a very different kind of track from this weekend's venue.

"Brands Hatch is far more tight and you are on the edge far more during the race.

"It means there is more chance of people crashing out, but I guess that adds to the excitement."

One of the main tasks for the Carlin driver at this week's testing session has been to perfect his starts.

After gaining double pole position at Rockingham, difficulties at the start saw the Bassingham driver burn out his clutch in the first race and he was forced to guide his car home in fifth place.

"We have been working on starts this week," he added.

"We were disappointed at Rockingham, especially after getting pole position, but we did a lot more work on them in testing and I am fully confident we'll get off the start line well this weekend.

"A result like Rockingham last time really does help the confidence massively so I am going there feeling good. I think we'll go well.

"I received some great feedback from everyone after winning the third race at Rockingham. I hope it made people sit up and take notice.

"But it's not just about winning the odd race. I should be winning more races, because I want to win this championship.

"That's what I have to do to get to where I want to be, which is in Formula 1."

Harvey heads to the Kent circuit today (Thursday). Qualifying and the first race of the weekend takes place on Saturday, with two further races on Sunday.

"I am looking forward to Brands, it is one of my favourite circuits in the UK," Harvey added.

"There is so much history attached to the place and I enjoy the feel of the venue and the racing circuit.

"Hopefully we can go there and pick up where we left off at Rockingham, but I don't just want to match that performance, I want to do better.

"It will be tough because the competition will be strong, but we will go into it full of confidence and we'll be doing our best to come back with some podium finishes."
